Tips and tricks for designing logos

Posted by Author - Freetoolsntips on March 12th, 2010

Creating a logo design is a pretty arduous task what with having to think of all those ideas and going back and forward with the client. But after reading this article I hope that it will become a little easier for you to knock out some pretty sweet designs.

Its also good when showing the client to present at least 5-10 different versions, even if it’s something simple like a change of color or some font styling. I had many clients often ask to see a design with a slight change just because it was hard for them to visualize it in their heads, I guess its the same for all clients and in the most part why they are hiring you.

How to Print Template

Posted by Author - Freetoolsntips on March 9th, 2010

The first thing to do is print the template. We have it available in two common formats a PDF document and an image. To make optimal use of the size of your paper, we recommend you print out the PDF document.
Template as PDF document available in Letter and A4
PDF paper size is Letter; for the United States and Canada:
Template as PDF document Letter (opens in a new window)
PDF paper size is A4; for all other countries:
Template as PDF document A4 (opens in a new window)
Template pages as image
If for some reason you are not able to print the above PDF, then open and print the template as image(s):
Template as Image Page 1 (opens in a new window)
Template as Image Page 2 (opens in a new window)
You can also use the above images to draw the letters directly in your image editing software, so even without a printer or scanner you’ll be able to make your own fonts. This also allows you to write in the characters using a tablet.

Font Tips: Creating Printing Samples

Posted by Free Tools N Tips on March 2nd, 2010
When choosing a style to use for a project, there is no replacement for a printed type specimen. Fonts just look different when you see them in print, compared to how they look on screen. So, when you need to choose fonts for a print project, it’s smart to have a type case book handy that shows exactly how all your fonts look on the page.

Smart developers have come up with several useful utilities for printing font specimen pages not only for active fonts, but also for folders full of fonts you haven’t yet installed. Some of these utilities are free, but the best ones will set you back a few bucks.

Let’s start with the Font Book utility that comes with Mac OS X. It can print useful type specimen pages in three different layouts, but only for the fonts the user installed via Font Book. If necessary, you can temporarily activate the fonts you need to print by choosing File> Add Fonts, then deactivate them after you’ve created your font specimen pages.
